Your Introduction To Microneedling

There are a lot of anti-ageing treatments available and if you’re looking for a way to boost your skin and reduce signs of ageing, then microneedling could be for you.

As an article for Yahoo! Lifestyle recently explained, it’s a treatment that is designed to induce collagen production in your skin. As a result of the increased levels of collagen, the skin rejuvenates, leading to the reduced appearance of the likes of fine lines and signs of sun damage.

The principle behind it is very simple and it’s a noninvasive procedure. Essentially small needles create tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which in turn causes the body to produce new collagen and elastin, US dermatologist Debra Jaliman told the news provider.

This means that the skin reacts in the same way that it would if it was wounded, but all you have are very tiny puncture wounds, so the result is that the skin thickens, becomes plumper and the texture becomes more even.

Although it sounds like it might be a painful procedure, the news provider noted that it isn’t particularly painful. Numbing cream will be applied to your face beforehand, and afterwards you can expect to look as though you have mild sunburn, but this will fade within days and won’t be painful.
