The very common signs of ageing are seen on the face as loss of volume. As a contrast to young, youthful and plump skin, we usually see sunken and hollow cheeks and are very much responsible for our loss in confidence and low self-esteem. How can Dermalogic Aesthetics help? The use of cheek fillers is the answer!

Cheek fillers are used to improve the definition of the cheek bones or to lift the mid face as part of facial rejuvenation. The simple procedure involves the direct administration of prescribed hyaluronic acid gel into the selected treatment area. This is done in the form of a local injection. Improving the volume, definition and fullness of the cheeks.

The use of dermal cheek fillers not only help reverses the natural signs of ageing, they also revitalise the skin, leaving your complexion refreshed and your skin lifted.

If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation.
At your free consultation, one of our highly trained medical practitioners will discuss in detail about the results you want to achieve. Our medical practitioners will then guide you through your treatment options. Your medical practitioner will talk you through the various dermal filler products we use and which one – or which combination – will achieve the best results for you. We only offer temporary fillers because permanent fillers can cause long-term problems. You can discuss every aspect of your treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our medical practitioners are extremely knowledgeable and highly trained and will happily answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to go ahead, we can book your treatment in for a date and time that suits you.

On the day of your treatment, you will be given some more information about your treatment and will also have an opportunity to ask any last-minute questions you may have. Consent forms will also be signed during this appointment. The initial stage involves the area is cleaned with antiseptic and marked using a marker pen to decide on the optimum site for enhancement. Numbing cream can be applied if patients prefer for additional comfort. Once it has taken effect, the dermal filler is slowly injected to place the filler above the cheek bone. Further product may be placed laterally in the cheek to further enhance the contour depending on the natural shape of your cheek. The result is immediate and will last about up to 18 months. However, due to the immediate swelling from the procedure the final result will not be seen until about 3-4 weeks. A plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result can be created for you. Our treatment provides a long-lasting but not permanent result leaving you the option of refining your treatment in tune with changing taste and fashion.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You’ll have the opportunity to ask your medical practitioner any questions as part of your consultation, but to start the ball rolling here are the answers to some that our patients most frequently asked questions.

Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring sugar that we all have. To resolve nuisance wrinkles, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.

Treatment in the cheeks can last up to 18 months. It’s important to bear in mind however that your lifestyle, the amount of correction required, and differing skin types will all have an impact on the amount of time you get out of your treatment.

Typically 45-60 minutes will be required to complete your procedure. Each treatment includes a full consultation to ensure we understand the look you’re trying to achieve.

The great thing about treatment with dermal fillers is that the results are instant. It’s important to note though that your skin will settle over the following few days by which time the final result can be seen.

Our medical practitioners will always provide a consultation before treatment – you can usually have the treatment during the same appointment. Consultations are absolutely important to our aesthetic medical professionals understanding exactly what you want to achieve.

Our dermal fillers, have a in-built anaesthetic called lidocaine which enhances comfort. In addition though we apply an anaesthetic cream to really help make your treatment as comfortable as possible. As with any medical procedures, a small amount of discomfort may be felt but the aesthetic medical professionals are so advanced in their techniques that most customers feel little or nothing at all.

No. The dermal fillers we use take on the characteristics of the body’s own tissue so you shouldn’t feel the dermal filler once it’s in place. The product is similar to a smooth gel which is injected below the skin.

Yes. Only 1 in 20,000 treatments result in an allergic reaction. Although dermal fillers can be reversed using another injection, this requirement is extremely rare.

There is no recovery time with dermal fillers, so you can immediately resume normal daily activities. As with injections, customers should avoid excessive alcohol, exercise or sun for the first 24 hours.

The gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin. This means that over time your results will slowly fade and you’ll return back to the medical professionals for additional treatment to maintain your look.

No. Your cheeks will simply return to how it was before you began dermal filler treatment.

Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps in the treated area. These can be reduced by massage.

If you are prone to cold sores, there is a small chance that one will occur following a lip enhancement. In very rare instances (1 in 15,000) blood supply from the smallest vessels can be disrupted causing scab formation and, in some cases, scarring. Our medical professionals are all highly trained in how to deal with side effects to ensure you get the best from your treatment.

Although there’s no specific studies which show it’s dangerous to use dermal fillers with pregnant or breast-feeding mothers, we take a cautionary stance and don’t carry out treatment until you’ve completed breast-feeding your baby.
