To obtain these results, at Dermalogic aesthetics, we believe it can only be achieved by a skilful and experienced practitioner. Lip Enhancement and Lip Filler Treatments Bristol and Cardiff

The TREATMENT PROCESS

Step
1

PRIOR TO TREATMENT

The first step is to speak to one our medical practitioners from our Bristol or Cardiff clinics. You’ll be able to talk to them about why you’re considering dermal filler treatment, the likely costs, and when you’d like to have the treatment. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation. At your free consultation, one of our highly trained medical practitioners will discuss in detail about the results you want to achieve. Our medical practitioners will then guide you through your treatment options. Your medical practitioner will talk you through the various dermal filler products we use and which one – or which combination – will achieve the best results for you. We only offer temporary fillers because permanent fillers can cause long-term problems. You can discuss every aspect of your treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our medical practitioners are extremely knowledgeable and highly trained and will happily answer any questions you have. If you feel ready to go ahead, we can book your treatment in for a date and time that suits you

TREATMENT

On the day of your treatment, you will be given some more information about your treatment and will also have an opportunity to ask any last-minute questions you may have. Consent forms will also be signed during this appointment. The initial stage involves applying numbing cream to the treatment areas. Once it has taken effect, your practitioner will use a very fine needle to carefully complete the series of small injections, and then massage your lips to ensure the filler is evenly distributed. The treatment takes about 45 – 60 minutes and, although you may experience some slight swelling or bruising, you’ll be able to see the results straight away.

POST TREATMENT

You’ll be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be fine to go about your normal day-to-day activities. Any swelling or bruising usually disappears within 48 hours. We believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself, so we’re here to support you. Aftercare will be explained to you before you leave our clinic and you have the opportunity to ask us anything if you need. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can always contact Dermalogic Aesthetics at any time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You’ll have the opportunity to ask your medical practitioner any questions as part of your consultation, but to start the ball rolling here are the answers to some that our patients most frequently asked questions.

Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring sugar that we all have. To resolve nuisance wrinkles, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.

Yes. All treatments require a through consultation prior to treatment to ensure we help you in the best possible way.
We provide this service free of charge and you’ll get excellent advice from one of our aesthetic medical professionals based on your requirements, as well as any past treatments and relevant medical history.

You can expect your procedure to last around 45 minutes. Your treatment session with include a consultation to ensure the medical practitioners fully understand what you’re looking to achieve.
The brilliant thing about dermal filler treatments is that the results are immediate. It’s important to note though that your skin will settle over the following few days – you’ll then see the finished result in it’s entirely!
No, unfortunately we don’t treat ladies while they’re pregnant or breast-feeding.
No. The dermal fillers we use take on the characteristics of the body’s own tissue so you shouldn’t feel the dermal filler once it’s in place. The product is similar to a smooth gel which is injected below the skin.

Yes. Only 1 in 20,000 treatments result in an allergic reaction. Although dermal fillers can be reversed using another injection (hyalase), this requirement is extremely rare but you can be assured that our medical practitioners are all fully trained should this be required or requested.

A dermal filler procedure is typically straightforward and needs no recovery time, so you can immediately crack on with your day. Customers should avoid excessive alcohol, exercise or the heat of the sun for the first 24-48 hours.

The gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin. This means that over time your results will slowly fade and you’ll require additional treatment to stay loving your look.

Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps in the treated area. These can be reduced by massage.

The medical practitioners all highly trained in how to deal with side effects to ensure you get the best from your treatment.

It is very common for your lips to become quite swollen and bruised for a few days after your treatment. There are steps that you can take to lessen the impact of this, such as applying a cold compress to your lips to bring down the swelling and regularly using Arnica Gel to reduce the bruising. If you feel that your lips are excessively swollen and are getting worse, or if the swelling is accompanied by severe pain, get in touch with our medical practitioners straight away and they will advise whether you need an emergency appointment with one of our aestheticians.

The lips are one of the most sensitive areas on the face, so discomfort during the treatment is normal and can be expected.
However, all dermal fillers contain a numbing agent to lessen the pain of the procedure. You will also be provided with numbing cream for your lips on arrival. These things will help with any discomfort but are unlikely to mask the sensation completely.

It is important to remember that the way your lips look for the few days following your treatment, is not the finished result.

Swelling and bruising can take up to two weeks to completely subside, so you should wait until this point before considering any further action. If you are still unhappy with your result after the two-week point, then you should book in for a follow up with one of our aesthetic clinicians who can make any alterations or even dissolve the filler altogether for you.

If you feel that your swelling and bruising is abnormal or is getting worse over time, get in touch with our medical practioners and they will evaluate whether you need to be seen sooner by a clinician.

All medical professionals are trained in the art of aesthetics and facial proportion. Using the 4mm technique, our experts will only administer as much of the product as it takes to maintain a perfect ratio, giving you a beautiful result that fits your features and won’t make you look over treated.

If you are unhappy with your result, you can book in for a follow up with one of our Aesthetic Clinicians two weeks after your appointment.

Occasionally after you have been injected, the filler can settle and form lumps under the skin. This is completely normal and will require a follow up after two weeks with one of our aesthetic medical professionals, to massage it out. The filler will still be easy to manipulate at this point and you will be left with a smooth result.

However, sometimes the lumps in your skin are caused by a reaction. If you notice that the lumps are accompanied by pain and/or swelling that does not subside within a week, give our medical practitioners a call and they will arrange to see you as soon as possible because you may need a prescription of steroids.

If the pain and swelling is severe and is getting worse, give our medical practitioners a call right away and they will advise whether you require an emergency appointment.
