How To Do The Hot Cloth Cleanse

A facial is a brilliant way to really look after your skin, but it’s not always possible to pop off to the spa or salon for some well-earned me time. Occasionally, real life gets in the way! When these instances crop up and you feel as though you need a bit of a pick-me-up, what about trying the hot cloth cleanse, an amazing way to indulge in a bit of much-needed self-care.

The idea of this cleanse isn’t to just remove your makeup at the end of the day, but to also gently buff and exfoliate, while helping your products to penetrate even deeper into the skin.

First of all, make sure you take your makeup off first using a cleansing oil or balm, which you can massage into the skin and then rinse away, before patting your skin dry lightly with a flannel or muslin.

You don’t want to dry your skin completely, however, so make sure that it’s still a little damp before you apply some of your cleanser. Massage this all over your face and neck with firm fingertips, but don’t pull on your skin and be gentle with your eye area, as this is more vulnerable.

Fill the basin with hot water (but not too hot!) and then soak your flannel before wringing it out. Once done, position the cloth over your face and sit back as the steam opens up your pores and allows the cleanser to really penetrate the skin. Repeat once or twice more, then rinse your flannel in lukewarm water and use it to gently buff the skin in small circles.

Follow it all up with some serum and your preferred night cream, then hop into bed and get some well-deserved beauty sleep. You might be surprised at the glow you have when you wake up in the morning!
