Not being able to leave the house has played havoc with many women’s beauty regime, with lots of people giving up on wearing make-up, using good products, and styling hair, as they will not have to come face-to-face with others.
However, while coronavirus is certainly a good excuse to let yourself go, leave your roots to grow out, not pluck your eyebrows, and ditch cleansing and moisturising your face twice a day, this could lead to a whole population of people looking entirely unlike themselves.
In addition to this, it could have an impact on people’s mental health, if being stuck at home hasn’t already.
Sarah Sessler, a lawyer in Cincinnati told The Atlantic: “Completely abandoning my makeup and hair routine and wearing sweats all day literally makes me feel kind of like I’m already sick.”
Not only does it make people feel better to like what they see when they look in the mirror, but it gives them a structure to their day and provides them with a similar routine they had been used to.
Indeed, Dr Stewart Shankman, chief of psychology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, told Time: “This COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented time of uncertainty and uncontrollability. So people putting makeup on will give them a sense of control given what’s going on outside is uncontrollable.”
While salons have to remain closed during lockdown, ladies all around the country are sure to be itching to sort out their dermal fillers in Bristol, hair, skin and nails as soon as they can.
