We’ve all been getting used to interacting with colleagues, friends and family in a virtual way rather than face to face in recent months. While this has provided some great opportunities to keep in touch and catch up, it seems that it’s had an unintended effect on some people’s self-esteem.
Harper’s Bazaar recently revealed that there has been a spike in the number of people considering cosmetic procedures as a result of evaluating how they look on camera during the likes of Zoom meetings and FaceTimes.
Cosmetic surgeon and spokesperson for the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) Gerard Lambe told the publication that BAAPS members have seen an increase in the number of enquiries they’re receiving in recent weeks.
“The ‘Zoom factor’, with people using cameras more than ever and their visual appearance being scrutinised on apps, has certainly boosted enquiries for cosmetic tweaks and procedures,” he asserted.
Of course, you might not want to go under the knife, but there are plenty of non-surgical procedures that you can explore if you feel genuinely unhappy with your appearance. You might be interested in lip enhancement in Cardiff, for example, or want to explore your options for rejuvenating your skin.
