The brow lift is a very subtle opening of the eyes, used to pull sagging lids upwards, which has happened due to age and the way in which the upper and side muscles around the eye area work against each other, puling the eyelid downwards over time. Some time ago this was treated surgically, with the excess skin being removed by excision. With the emergence of anti-wrinkle injections this is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

PRIOR TO THE TREATMENT

The first step is to speak to one our medical practitioners from our Bristol, Cardiff or Coventry clinics. If you feel ready, we’ll then book you in for your free consultation. At your free consultation, your medical practitioner will ask you about the results you want to achieve. TREATMENT

On the day of your treatment, you’ll be able to go through any last-minute questions with your medical clinician. The Botulinum toxin will be injected using a very fine needle to carefully complete the series of small injections. into the orbicularis oculi muscle under each eyebrow. This causes brow elevation and therefore improves the shape of brow arch and position of eyebrows. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes in total and, although it may be a little uncomfortable, it shouldn’t hurt.

POST TREATMENT

You’ll be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be fine to go about your normal day-to-day activities. You’ll just need to avoid tilting your head forwards for a while and avoid exercise for the next 24 hours. If you experience soreness in your face, you can take painkillers to ease the discomfort. It can take up to a few days for the muscles to relax and for you to see the results. We believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself, so we’re here to support you. What is Botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It relaxes muscle by temporarily blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes lines and wrinkles.

How does the treatment work?

The brow lift treatment works by relaxing the muscle under each eyebrow,resulting in enhancing the function of the muscle that lift the brows up. Botulinum toxin is injected into the orbicularis oculi muscle, causing brow elevation resulting in an improvement to the shape of brow arch and position of eyebrows.

Who can benefit from the treatment?

This treatment can be performed on all skin types, and may be particularly effective for people who have naturally drooping eyelids and low-hanging eyebrows. The brow lift literally ‘lifts’ the skin tissues above and around the eyebrows so that the natural eyebrow arch is a few millimeters higher. Patients who experience mild hooding are usually suitable candidates for the procedure.

How does the treatment work?

Is it Safe?

All treatments carry a degree of risk. All risks and complications will be discussed with you at consultation and prior to any treatment being agreed. Injection related side effects are minimal and temporary such as redness,swelling and bruising. Spreading of the Botulinum toxin to the muscles nearby can be easily prevented by avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 4 hours. Adverse events are uncommon, usually occur within a few days of treatment and are expected to be temporary, usually resolving spontaneously within weeks. Your medical practitioner will provide aftercare advice designed to minimise risk and promote speedy recovery from any expected side effects.

How long will the results last?

On average 2-4 months. The longevity of the result is variable and each individual may obtain a different result. A plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result can be created for you.

Does it Hurt?

A very fine needle is used and generally this treatment is not painful and can be well tolerated with no anaesthetic. Ice may be helpful in numbing the skin for nervous patients as well as reducing the risk of a bruise.

What will happen if I stop having the injection?

The relaxant effect of the Botulinum toxin will wear off over time and you can effectively continue or discontinue at any time that suits you.
