L’Oréal’s Hyper-Real Makeup Filters For Social Media

Whether we’re in lockdown or not, the trend for statement makeup does not seem to be slowing down at all, even if we can’t head out to show it off. Makeup fanatics are still raving about big and bold looks, even if they’re working from home in PJs!

But not everyone wants to spend hours perfecting their striking makeup looks simply for a Zoom chat with friends. Luckily for us, L’Oréal has developed a range of 10 new filters called Signature faces that seamlessly work with all your favourite social media and video conferencing apps, according to Global Cosmetic News.

You can now use the free filters on Snapchat, Instagram, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Hangouts, while still keeping your face fresh and clean and maintaining your skincare regime.

The filters have been developed by Virtue, VICE’s creative agency, and L’Oréal Paris’ global makeup artist Val Garland, recently seen on BBC’s makeup show, Glow Up, and a team of very talented 3D digital artists.

The digital makeup looks you can experiment with include: Volumizing Capsules (3D speckles of chrome, pearl and glitter, which embellish lids and lashes), Plump Shot (a wash of lustrous gloss on lids and lips) and our favourite, Fire Match (smoky sunset-inspired eyeshadow with matching matte lipstick and hazy blush to boot).

Rushing round to do your makeup before a last-minute Zoom catch-up with friends, virtual cocktail hour, or impromptu quiz nights is a thing of the past!

Signature Faces is free and super easy to use. On Instagram, you can find them via L’Oréal Paris’ profile. Tap the screen and fit the filter to your face before snapping a picture or recording. On desktop platforms, you can find each filter on Snap Camera.

Once downloaded, they can be used on video calls on Google Hangouts, Google Duo, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
